Catalog Expectations

2026-2027 Catalog Objectives

For the upcoming catalog editing cycle, catalog editors are asked to keep the following objectives in mind when updating undergraduate and graduate content. All edits must go through the established workflow and be submitted to the Registrar's Office by February 2, 2026.

Undergraduate

The Registrar’s office administratively updated undergraduate degree requirements. The below updates were added within Program Management.

  • Standardized Language for the KU Core 34
    • Including the addition of assigned Math Pathway course
  • Capstone Header
  • Auto-sum degree requirements grid and inclusion of General Electives to reach 120 credit hours
  • Standardized Description of BA/BGS degrees (where applicable)
  • Academic concentrations moved to separate concentration pages (new for the College)
  • Added Learning Outcomes to the program management form
Next Steps: Undergraduate Page Editors

Before submitting pages into workflow, complete the following:

  • Confirm Math Pathway Courses - Verify which Math Pathway courses are accepted by your program. While the designated Math Pathway course cannot be changed, additional options may be accepted. Use the standardized language provided.
  • Review KU Core 34 Overlap - Add or confirm any degree-required courses that also fulfill KU Core 34 requirements, using standardized language. Enter as indent under Core 34 section of degree requirements.
  • Add Prerequisites - Include prerequisite courses for required degree courses. These must be counted in the total degree hours.
  • Update Curriculum - Make any additional curricular changes for the upcoming catalog cycle. Stellic audits will align with catalog requirements.
  • Reminder: Requirements must be specific enough to program (e.g., “BIOL, CHEM, or PHSX lecture & lab course" vs. "additional science course."
  • Review Standardized Language - Common language for the KU Core 34 & BA/BGS was used for all applicable undergraduate degrees.  No edits should be made, but please review.
  • Review Learning Outcomes - Check and confirm Learning Outcomes in the program management form.
