Biography —
Originally from Topeka, KS, Liz has built a career spanning administrative leadership, communications, and higher education. She previously served in roles at the Topeka Capital-Journal and Community Action, Inc., where she developed skills in relationship building, communications, branding, graphic design, and program management.
She later transitioned into higher education at the University of Kansas, where she earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies. Since then, she has supported strategic communications and organizational operations within the Office of the University Registrar, contributing to process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Committed to community engagement, Liz volunteers her time supporting career readiness through informal interview and resume preparation assistance. She also volunteers with Sunrise Project, a Lawrence-based nonprofit focused on environmental sustainability, food access, and community empowerment. She is an advocate for local conservation efforts and believes in strengthening communities through shared knowledge and service.
Outside of work, Liz enjoys seeking outdoor adventures by hiking with her husky, climbing, and exploring new parks and trails. She also takes pride as a lifelong learner through reading, writing, painting, and playing the piano.
